….since everything on that watch isn't 65 years old.  Besides the engraving, I'd like to see head-on shots of the dial close enough to get a good look at the font just in case.

Mr. Goldfinger collection day #1 - Omega Centenary (1948)

 By: nilomis : December 30th, 2013-02:37
Team, To open the series, allow me to introduce the famous (rare?) Omega Centenary. This watch was created as part of the centenary (1848-1948) celebration and it's considered as the precursor of the Constellation (1952). 1) I Consider this watch a true c...

A white gold or (better) platinum version could be outstanding. Cheers, Nilo (Founding member of the non-yellow gold society)

You mean like this?

What a piece to have in ones collection, i have never seen one in the flesh. Just odd that the script and the olive leave on the back, does not look anything like the one in the book, seems like they have been ingraved in the one shown Watch and "stamped"...

The angle and the light ...

Explains the unusual look of the case back engrave. I saw it live and didn't had any concern. Cheers, Nilo

Okay....

The leaves in the book is much more detailed, and at the end of the leaves there is a cross pin, that is not on the shown Watch. The distance between the letters is also different. Sorry but the camera angel can not explain the difference, but that said i...

Well ...

After the discussions about that Connie, I'm committed to not say anything about vintage watches, Omegas in particular. Cheers, Nilo

Thomas, I think you are totally right. I had the same thought when I saw the picture: later hand engraved - not original. regards erich

It's 65 years old? Unbelievable!

 By: heartbreaker : December 30th, 2013-13:42
Hi Nilo! I find this Centenary unbelievably perfect, for a 65 years old piece. My definition for its Design is: unique and monumental. I mean that IMHO its design is - at the same time - "unique" because every contemporary re-edition would look like an aw...

Cool. 65 years and it has no wrinkles!

 By: nilomis : December 30th, 2013-16:55
Elio, I didn't paid attention to the number of years, only on the manufacture date. I work with technology products that are truly obsolete (read electronic junk) after one year or so. I'm attracted to mechanical watches because they can and will outlive ...

Ralph, That's the only pictures that I took from this watch and I doubt that I go to have another chance on the near future (Mr. G. travels A LOT). In any case, here is a cropped version showing the dial. Notice that the main objective of this series is n...

Not all Centenaries had the markings . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2013-14:11
. . . and I would think those that were would all be hand engraved. In the not-too-distant past, Chopard issued a series of chronometers, each of which had an engraving of a beehive with buzzing bees. There were, to the best of my recollection, difference...

Spoke with my Omega guru and ...

 By: nilomis : December 30th, 2013-14:18
He owns three or four and he stated that the marks are different. I believe that we are, again, following the wrong thinking that vintage watches were made on a clone factory when in fact it were some sort of artisanal product allowing differences. Cheers...

My bad, I forgot to state that from pic #4 to the end the pictures are from the Omega "black book". I corrected my post to let this clear. Cheers, Nilo
