Omega Speedmaster CK 2998 Limited Edition: Blue and White or Black and White?

 By: amanico : June 12th, 2018-06:55
You know the Speedmaster CK 2998 limited edition in blue / white very well: Launched in 2016 in a limited edition of 2998 pieces ( which always made me laugh ), this piece was warmly welcomed, and that is fair, as it looks very appealing, and it revisits ...

I love both but opted for panda as it has a ceramic bezel ...

I think mine is arriving in September

Thanks . New factoid ! [nt]

Black - Panda [nt]

Merci, Monsieur! [nt]

Honesty Blue is more exciting and unique

 By: Gelato Monster : June 12th, 2018-20:36
Both are sporty in different way. But Panda is simply more versatile and accentuated

The new panda one is really cool

 By: Joepny : June 12th, 2018-07:21
I am a sucker for red accents on a chrono. And No Date. Lost interest in most of Omega’s offerings over the years but these two are very fresh indeed. I think if Omega offered a nice bracelet alternative with the new panda, it would definitely make me wan...

I’ve also seen SLW wear his on IG

 By: Joepny : June 12th, 2018-07:40
The problem is that you have to buy the bracelet separately at additional full retail cost. I think it looks great on the Omega bracelet.

The blue appeals to me more, but I believe that the panda/pulsometer will age better from a style standpoint

 By: Tim_M : June 12th, 2018-07:45
Also, the full tachymeter of the 2016 is lumed, and that variant clearly excels in the dark from the perspective of unexpected surprise-and-delight features. Best, Tim

The 2012 FOIS probably needs to be considered as well.

 By: Tim_M : June 12th, 2018-19:28
Although that one is separated from the 2016 and 2018 by a few years, it seems to be the origin of the current series of straight-lug 39.7mm Speedmasters. The newer watches are more imaginative than that "Numbered Series," but the older watch feels like i...

hello dear Nicolas! I already own the blue 2998 and agree with you that it is a cool watch that revisits the looks of the classic 2998CK in a fresh and modern way...

 By: Subexplorer : June 12th, 2018-07:55
... it is one of the most interesting modern version offered by Omega of the classic Speedy. Now the new black and white variant I find very attractive as well: the black subdials and minutes scale and the red touch on model name and seconds hands and the...

I have a preference for the blue...

 By: KMII : June 12th, 2018-08:01
The legibility may be a tad worse but the coolness, together with the lillipop of the seconds hand make it my favourite.

Fully agreed

 By: KMII : June 12th, 2018-10:34
A certain differentiation was necessary and done well in this case

+++1. [nt]

 By: amanico : June 12th, 2018-11:25

I will see it next Monday in an Omega event...will be good to compare then...but meanwhile..

here is how i can own both 😬 When I’m color blind 🤣 ...

You are a clever man. [nt]

Fun to play with colors 😊 [nt]

 By: Clueless_Collector : June 12th, 2018-10:09

I prefer the blue.

 By: TheMadDruid : June 12th, 2018-09:33
Slightly different than most chronographs. And I prefer tachymetre scales to pulsations-more of a race car feel. The new one is very attractive, though.

That depends on how "vintagey" you want to go.

 By: TheMadDruid : June 12th, 2018-10:49
Seeing as how going to the doctor's office puts a frown on my face, and watching an F1 or Indy Car race puts a smile on my face...Tachymetre for me!

Saw a variation of this n tried it on a couple of weeks back in a boutique

 By: KamalRostov : June 12th, 2018-09:34
Don’t see may of these in the wild tho... What are your thoughts on this one guys? ...

+1...a cool iteration, for sure.

 By: vitalsigns : June 12th, 2018-11:22
Would love to see a precious metal version with the cal. 321 resurrected. I think it could be justified...

Why not!!! [nt]

 By: amanico : June 12th, 2018-11:24

:))) [nt]

 By: amanico : June 12th, 2018-12:22

Could easily justify both...

 By: vitalsigns : June 12th, 2018-11:21
But if forced to choose, I think the Pulsations model is my favorite. Loved it in pictures. Hopefully the same feeling if I get to see it in the flesh. Not very limited, but I don't care about those things. More pieces for watch lovers, which is a good th...

The '18 comes across as . . .

 By: Dr No : June 12th, 2018-11:29
. . . a derivative of the Speedy paradigm. The '16 transcends it. Not that I'm considering either, but the blue version with a lollipop hand is aesthetically compelling. Art

I might be biased,

 By: Alex83 : June 12th, 2018-12:46
But I think I prefer the blue one which I own. gave it a thought on ordering the black one when I saw the news but quickly discarded the idea as first of all I try to avoid having twice the same movement (not always possible to resist) and the black versi...

hmmm, very tough decision!

 By: MCG (Markus) : June 12th, 2018-12:52
I know them both. They are very different in a way. The elegant blue 🐼 and the rather sporty black 🐼 . Both very nice!! But: One step back: Personally I find the case of the FOIS to thick in respect to its diameter. Also my view of a panda does not contai...

No doubt: I prefer the first version!

 By: heartbreaker : June 12th, 2018-13:51
Not only I've always found the blue version really successfull, but the black one doesn't meet my taste: I find out of place the pulsometer scale on a Speedmaster, it's really a pity having lost the "lollipop" seconds hand and I in general dislike the per...

Thanks, my friend. [nt]

 By: amanico : June 12th, 2018-15:34

Purely on aesthetics...

 By: Brandon Skinner : June 12th, 2018-14:42
I would put my chips on black!

This is a fun post — thanks for that —

 By: orahu : June 12th, 2018-18:03
I fell in love with the blue version as soon as it was unveiled at BaselWorld in 2016. I bought one and it is one of my all-time favorite watches. Go blue!

Blue for me.

 By: judson : June 12th, 2018-18:42
I prefer the blue overall, but would love to have pulsation so dial.

I like both color schemes

 By: mj23 : June 12th, 2018-21:48
However, the new one has pulsation which is weird to me as the watch is speedmaster. A tachymeter is much more fitting. So for that, I would pick the blue one.

I have bought the blue one

 By: DrStrong : June 13th, 2018-00:54
fantastic shade of blue ! ...

I vote for the blue

 By: ZeroHour : June 13th, 2018-05:32
For me there is something missing on the black. I must admit that I may be slightly biased... ...
