I had been floating around different models including 000 or 005 or 111...etc. So far , the two really hard to get is the 172 and 127, however I am not sure if I am willing to pay the asking price. So as you see, I had been in a dilemma for a long time.. (hahaha). coupled with some friends telling me that tritium dials is the way to go... ! Any additional advice for this kind soul ?

This duo immediately came to my mind.
232, no argument. But I would choose the 372 over the 390 all the time. Either way, a great pair as Bill notes. I now believe any essential Panerai collection should start with the 372. It is only a solid caseback away from being the "perfect PAM".

My honest opinion is to start with the 000
Enjoy it it fully, change straps, dress it up and down wear it for every occasion. Once you feel all the pleasures you can consider your next move. The 000 is a tool watch like a Rolex submariner no need to baby it and worry about a small scratch here and...
