Now, that's a Panerai ensemble...
you don't see very often. Many years ago, in Singapore, a PAM80 has been on offer for a very long time at a reseller's shop. I considered buying it but, even though I hadn't, yet, been bitten by the purist's bug, I never could warm up to the...indipendent...on the dial and left it in the shop in the end. Frankly, the 740 is not a keeper because it is, to the best of my knowledge, not a limited production. However, I have always wanted a Cali dial but 44 or 47 mm is too big for my wrist, hence I went for 42 mm. With the exception of the PAM 192 (which is 4...

Perhaps silly question but what the addition of “independent” stand for?
Oh sorry....it means the seconds mechanism works independently of
the rest of the movement. If you look closely on the movement photo, there is a cyclops lens to highlight the independent seconds mechanism. Rather unusual...

At one point, I have over a dozen PAMs
Now it's mostly back to the roots, so to speak, going after old PAMs. I guess they have gone out of fashion...
