It is one thing to put a watch in a chamber containing STATIC water/pressure in an "artificial environment" and a complete different matter to withstand the impacts when MOVING in water. Therefore WR 100 meter is recommended for swimming. IMHO (I'm not an expert!)
I also found an interesting post from Bill referring to this topic. I didn't manage to copy the link with my iPad. So - sorry - just some sceenshots. 

I addition to that Kari clarified in the same thread that the weight of the atmosphere is 1 atm = 1 bar. So in the depth of 30 meters the pressure is 4 atm = 4 bar. Quite interesting.
One further thought: Is it possible that the seals close better in higher depth
so that it is safer to use the watch for example in 10m depth than in 0,5m?
