Perhaps I could devote some space to the vehicles parked around on the lawns. How can I manage to convey the enormity of this show?
Some Purists I know are interested in the beauty of the automobile. Raise your hand if that's your preference ... I took some face shots for you:
Others might say that outside beauty is fine, but
true beauty is found on the inside. That's fine with me; I got some photos of the inner beauties too.
I loved this art deco dash. It appeared to be pewter - the patina was great!
A TV set in the back of the Rolls always is going to be a bit dated... but the wine might be nicely aged.
Swing-away steering wheel for those of "substantial girth"
Engine-turned dash is a treat to see.
This pair of Mercedes-Benz roadsters (enhanced, not original) complemented one another. I didn't notice the sleek doorhandles until I posted this picture.
I did notice the chest piercing steering column with discreet horn button on the green car.
Porsche, in case you didn't know.
Auburn.
McLaren.
I realize that some mechanically-minder speed demons are champing at the bit with all this beauty stuff, muttering "
Show us your engine" and so I am happy to comply:
Chevrolet V8 for some
Ford V8 for others
Hudson Twin H-Power Straight 6 for those who take the road less traveled ...
and for the rest, only 12 cylinders will do. Old flathead Lincoln for some;
or do you prefer your 12 cylinders to be from Lamborghini, and newly fabricated?
You can have cladding on your engine
Or be strictly business - "Just the facts ma'am, just the facts"
You can have steampunk with torque that will twist your arse sideways
or revs that will make your ears bleed
This is a Chevy engine with a rare set of Hilborn fuel injection. I know about it not because I am THAT old, but because I once dated Edris Hilborn whose dad Stu invented this system. Or I might have dreamed of dating her. I forget. She went to my school.
Anyone recognize this powerplant?
Perhaps all these engines are too clinical, mechanical, uninteresting.
Mrs Cazalea got a bit bored, so she had to go sit down and rest while I wandered around with the camera. The Rolls gentlemen came to her assistance.
Go on to
part 3 for the conclusion of my report.
