The theme of this year's presentation...

 By: sergio : April 7th, 2021-15:39
is Eco sustainability. Mr Pontrue's address was all about preserving the eco system, oceans, eco sustainable materials as results of recycling. That being said, the ESTEEL on the dial, doesn't phase me anymore than everything else they have slapped on it,...

Definitely not a fan.

New models

Will take a pass on the “eSteel” logo, but also any of these new gradient and sun burst/brushed type dials they seem to be leaning towards. Think matte dials look much better. Some of the other releases look quite nice however

Isn't the price rather high too?

I purchased an inexpensive one as an experiment and found that I really don't care for the case material. Paying that much [Panerai] money for a watch that will develop a patina that is neither interesting nor attractive to me is not my cup of java. ...

Looks like horological virtue signaling

However, I don’t mind special editions like the ocean commitment from Blancpain. This esteel thing seems too contrived to me

Admirable (!) yet laughable..

Like a series of luxury watches will have an impact on global wellbeing... I want my luxury a polluting one! My coke with sugar and my beer with alcohol. Mo

Superbly said!

I agree...

 By: sergio : April 8th, 2021-04:21
the feeling of "self importance" in the ecological front line battle, for an industry like that of the luxury watches (a flee on an elephant's behind), struck me too as a bit...weird

Watching the "morning show"....

replay, earlier on (I don't wake up at 7am), I've learned a new expression: beach to tuxedo. That is the transition that some of the brands (Tag in the specific case) are trying to achieve. Same watch from the surfboard to the grand soiree at a chateau

Surfboard ? I am in.

LUMINOR MARINA eSTEEL

By: India Whiskey Charlie : April 8th, 2021-08:47
From Panerai's website: The future is in our hands. Panerai forges ahead with circular design, thanks to our cutting-edge eSteel. Both the case and dial of Luminor Marina eSteel feature a new recycled steel alloy. Developed in collaboration with a selecti...

Does the use recycled materials cheapen the brand?

It says your watch is not new. It came from trash. Maybe should be priced lower.

Not a chance!

They have to charge consumers for the rummaging of recyclables and the recycling process. Something that has been going on for decades and no one notices.
