Not a fan of the label “esteel” on the dial of the new Panerai product line!

The more I look at these novelties, the more I spend time looking at the 2016 Special Editions. :)))

The theme of this year's presentation...

 By: sergio : April 7th, 2021-15:39
is Eco sustainability. Mr Pontrue's address was all about preserving the eco system, oceans, eco sustainable materials as results of recycling. That being said, the ESTEEL on the dial, doesn't phase me anymore than everything else they have slapped on it, throu time: 8 days, automatic, power reserves, dates etc.

Definitely not a fan.

New models

 By: Ted O : April 7th, 2021-15:50
Will take a pass on the “eSteel” logo, but also any of these new gradient and sun burst/brushed type dials they seem to be leaning towards. Think matte dials look much better. Some of the other releases look quite nice however

I liked the elab Submersible until I saw the 60k price tag 😳

Me too! I actually got the presentation from them. Some of the new models are nice but I prefer the older series

What do you think of the 42 Bronzo?

I like it a lot. Am just not sure about the 42mm personally. I guess I am still too stuck on 47mm models or even 44mm ones from Panerai. Just not sure I would get a 42mm but I would have to try one in the flesh

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : April 7th, 2021-16:37
If you like 42mm though it’s seem like a great watch

Thanks yacomino, I like the look of it too. I love your 721 on you but I just can't wear it comfortably. 42 Submersible works well for me though.

I think I need to try a 42mm... in all fairness I never tried one of their 42mm and it’s a size I love in other watches....

It's up there :) The execution, colours, dial are pretty much flawless though. You like it? Doesn't say ebronze ;)

In general, I don't care for bronze and...

By: India Whiskey Charlie : April 8th, 2021-06:37
I purchased an inexpensive one as an experiment and found that I really don't care for the case material. Paying that much [Panerai] money for a watch that will develop a patina that is neither interesting nor attractive to me is not my cup of java.

I understand your point. I find Bronze very nice but indeed hard to justify price/value different between say the Tudor Bronze and the PAnerai Bronze!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : April 9th, 2021-04:06
On the Panerai side i tend to prefer the normal steel version

Looks like horological virtue signaling

 By: MiguelFlash : April 7th, 2021-16:48
However, I don’t mind special editions like the ocean commitment from Blancpain.  This esteel thing seems too contrived to me

Admirable (!) yet laughable..

Like a series of luxury watches will have an impact on global wellbeing... I want my luxury a polluting one! My coke with sugar and my beer with alcohol.

Superbly said!
