Visit at La Manufacture (Part IV)

After the visit of La Manufacture, we were back in the private bus for a very short transfer to Bellevue le Rocheray. The Bellevue le Rocheray hotel is situated in a beautiful and quiet location right by the Lac de Joux. We had lunch at this hotel with Jaeger international director... I would have love also to meet Jérôme Lambert. Unfortunately his presence should have been required at Mostra in Venice at the same time.

During the afternoon, we visited the temporary exhibition devoted to Duométre à Sphérotourbillon. I learned that more than 3300 operations are needed to assemble this master piece and that 180 different jobs exist in La Manufacture. This could definitively explain the cost of this watch !

Following the temporary exhibition area, the heritage gallery displays all the calibers created by Jaeger Lecoultre to date on a transparent wall. A few older watches full of history and Jaeger's latest creations are also shown in several display cabinets. In particular, I was quite surprised to discover a skeletonized version of the 101 caliber put with grace in a Reverso. The original version of this caliber weights only 1gram and the skeletonized version looses almost 30% more of its weight !!! Moreover the crown of the watch is fully removable and is used as the key to rewind the small caliber... what a clever idea !

We finally ended the visit by the discovery of the current collection... you will find hereby a sample of the most impressive watches of the collection.

I was also particularly interested in the following watches ...

I can't lie to you but Reverso TT 1931 is a true winner !!!

That's the real problem with this kinda visit... you always end with new desires and whises ;-)
