Perfect proportions...40mm...not small, but not big either (down 1.5mm from the prior version, I believe).
The slimmer bezel and lugs make a big difference as well.
I also like the splash of color on the newer MP 8-day.
One quibble I have with both is that I wish JLC could somehow shift the year or a leap year indicator to the backside. I feel the year aperture disturbs the symmetry. Alternatively, include a leap year indicator in a subdial, like a traditional perpetual calendar layout.
All that said, I really like the newer MP 8-days. The dial glows and is very beautiful on the wrist. And for those of us who don't want to keep watches constantly on a winder, the 8-day movement is convenient.
