A quick glance into the watchbox: 3 black JLC Kings..
Team,
- as you well know, the Alarm is maybe the most coveted, and very well known complication of the
JLC portfolio, and as some of you might know, the collection of Memovoxes (MMV) from Le Grand Maison,
is one of the central focus points of my stables..
I just found a photograph, from some years ago, featuring 3 distinct but very
different types of MMV; so I wanted to share these 3 - all black dialled- MMV‘s.
And yes, all with the Alarm complication, but from very different times highlighting
JLC‘s specific perceptions of the topic..
So without further ado here is that shot, which also reminded me on the number
of years already passed and as well connecting those earlier editions, and also one of them
being my very first black Memovox, ( the middle E855) since more than 13 years ago..
- Thus pls find here my little Threesome of „Three Black Kings“:
Left: MMV International ( issued 2010); Middle: E855 from 60ies - a real Classic; Rt: Master Compressor Memovox (around 2002, if I remember correctly)
The MMV Int‘l ( Cal 956, 750 in SS, 250 in gold), issued with the appearance of a new Master line and was a sort of „WT“,
but in fact more of an Indication, rather than complication or a real World Time watch
- from my point: meanwhile gone, but not forgotten.
The Middle E855 from the 60ies, Automatic as well, to me renders a special remembrance, as it happened
to be my first MMV, found and purchased (in one of my, if not THE favoured city in Europe,) in Paris.
And also, as it is somehow a reflection of a friendship bond to a very dear friend - you know, who you are !)
It still is one of my most fav Memovoxes and exhibits a really cool style and appeal - unobtrusive, yet a timeless beauty.
- The last one, on the Right, is a quite specific MMV, in fact it‘s a Compressor type, with the respective
crowns and case, and in my Collection it is a sort of symbol, as to how much JLC, as a company and
major watch manufacture has been an innovative, almost unconventional House; I wish some of this
spirit (remember also the very innovative Amvox design line !) would come back stronger (JLC hear us - a new Duomêtre please !!)
and would sometimes revive more of some elements of the old spirit !..
Well, enough of my dwellings - hope you were not bored but
enjoyed a bit taking a look back into this part of my watchboxes..
