Witch-hunt

Baron,

I disagree with you on the witch-hunt point.  A switch from the point of an argument onto the personality or motivation of the opponent is, in my opinion, one of the lower forms of debate.

If you re-read the last point in my original post, you will notice that you and i are in agreement on a key point, which is: whatever the motivation may be to go for a high-end watch, its their choice, and we should not be judgmental.

On a more controversial point, when I sit across the table from another man first time, I always look at their wrist.  Often, but not always, i make presumptions on the individual's personality and taste.  About 30-40% of the time this opinion changes over time - but an average of 65% hit rate is not bad at all.  Just consider, when was the last time you were in a business meeting and saw a man wearing an ostentatious big gold watch?
