Not only not working
Mechanical watches will break at some point but I have heard the service is horrible where customers need to wait well over a year to get the watch back. Also a friend’s watch was used as a display model to allow other visitors to play with while it’s stuck in service for well over a year. It’s ridiculous

No, no. This isn't that at all. This is a very high failure rate, extremely show turn around AND using clients watches to show to other clients.
This is far from the norm and please don't paint good, honest independents with the same brush. Not all independents are the same.

As my watchmaker says, making a reliable movement is actually really hard.
He's a fan of vintage, time-tested movements as well as their modernized versions. He sees a lot of in-house movements in for repair. But hey, a really well finished bricked movement sure looks nice in pictures.

The broken promises are also terrible.

I had never heard anything but extreme praise for this watchmaker and his watches. Leave it to this Forum to give us the other side of the story.
It's a mess of company. They made promises to customer and then welched on those promises....
High failure rates, slow service, using clients watches in for repair to shower other customers... The list goes on... All held up by auction hype. The the values go in free fall as they should. These watches aren't worth it.
