Magnificent

Thank you Valentin for your excellent photo essay, and of course for allowing us all to marvel at yet another beautiful Haldimann piece.

Since super-accurate timekeeping is not necessarily the paramount objective of haute horologie, the art of the watchmaker is evinced thorugh the quality of the watch and its constituent parts; in this way pragmatists appreciate watchmaking as a craft and perceive the value of the watch as being directly linked to rarity of the skills involved in its maunfacture. The H8 proposes something beyond simply mastering the techniques required to produce watchmaking as art, I believe that, as Valentin states, it is sculpture, art itself, and its validity is inherent in it being art rather than a watch. With the seemingly inexorable proliferation in tourbillon maunfacture, it also presents us with the opportunity to re-visit the beauty of a somewhat smothered horological delight without impediment or interruption.

On a less serious note, if one were to really miss what most consider to be an essential element of a watch, namely the display of readable time, perhaps Mr Haldimann could incorporate a montre a tact display allowing for the sculptural integrity of the tourbillon to remain unhindered?

Regards,

Baruch
