Let’s play “guess the brand and guess the retailer that they collaborated with”

Yes, your eyes aren’t playing mind tricks on you; it does say Laurent ferrier on the dial, and the caseback does say Phillips & Bacs & Russo

Source of photos: phillipsperpetual on IG

I welcome your comments, while I dig info on the case size and dial size etc

TimeZone EOT watch from 2004 Cazalea ...

This TZ collab, I actually like

My God ! Thats insane

 By: M@ster : October 13th, 2021-19:53

It looks like the Longines sector dial

 By: Cookies : October 13th, 2021-20:16
Quite a cool obscure collaboration on this LF.

I think we have similar personalities

 By: Cookies : October 13th, 2021-20:45
Very interesting. I found that true as well. There is resonance.

Did you read the article on the gatekeepers

 By: Cookies : October 13th, 2021-20:46
Here it is: www.google.com

🤣🤣🤣🤣. Touché

 By: Lankysudanese : October 14th, 2021-05:17
What about collabs with watch clubs ?

That one is ok

 By: Cookies : October 14th, 2021-12:46
Esp if it is from Watchprosite

Agree wit h Cookies, with a caveat. I have no problem with watch club x manufacture collabs; as these are generally collector focused and intended and let's face it, it's not making

 By: DouglasM : October 14th, 2021-14:43
the manufacturer a lot of money, only returning some good will back to a collector club that has supported them. So for the various watch clubs I'm fine with it; with the WPS collabs, I'm fine with those too. What I'm not fine with, are all those stupid H...

These remind me a lot of Atelier de Chronometrie lol

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 13th, 2021-20:52
Nothing wrong against that! I have heard that amoung watch nerds that their reputation has fallen! I appreciate what they are doing but their watches are way to simple for my taste. Having said that, beautiful movement but if I had to pick between LF or R...

The AdC vibes are VERY strong

 By: blau : October 13th, 2021-21:14
I don't mind that so much--those are good vibes! But LF does seem to spread themselves AWFULLY thin on the various limited editions...

I can totes dig that!

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 14th, 2021-00:17

Revolution has a collab with them.

 By: Lankysudanese : October 14th, 2021-05:21
LF has an issue with distribution and moving stock. These collabs will certainly help, Bc it puts the onus on the retailer (or, in this case, auction house) to do the marketing and pushing and selling

Interesting!

 By: blau : October 14th, 2021-10:30
I had not considered/been aware of that side.

I see!

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 14th, 2021-21:21
I heard something along those lines and that they had fallen in favour amoung watch collectors for that reason. Again, dont know to much as I dont follow the brand a lot as I am not the biggest fan but i heard scuttlebutt about some major problems/issues ...

I’m a fan. Their distribution issues and some minor QC issues bother me.

 By: Lankysudanese : October 15th, 2021-05:44
When those get fixed, I’d be happy to jump on. The prior quibbles were them being an assemblage watch company, as opposed to a true manufacturer. But many of the prominent indie’s are the same way, and no one has cried foul about the others.

I see!!

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 15th, 2021-06:48
Ya, i agree, for me, it is a lot more about how much can they make the watch their own and I def feel that LF has made a very distinctive watch. Having said that, sometimes I do feel that at a certain price point, I do expect a inhouse watch but not neces...

We digress and we agree at the same time.

 By: Lankysudanese : October 15th, 2021-07:19
RM has been moving more in-house, lately. Not an RM kinda guy, and definitely don’t have the budget for them, but they were always bound to put that money to good use. On the in-house front, duffour uses ready-supplied movements for the simplicity, and th...

Exactly and excellent points!

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 15th, 2021-18:34
Especially about Philipe Dufour! I thought he handmade his watches? Lolz I did not know about that!

same!

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 16th, 2021-07:08
Hope someone can come help! I don't follow Philipe a lot either so don't know! Lolz

I was right, and I was wrong 🤣

 By: Lankysudanese : October 17th, 2021-16:06
Not movements, just individual components. ...

Interesting.

 By: blau : October 17th, 2021-17:12
My impression was that Haldimann was someone more devoted to the watches-as-handicrafts ideal than Dufour is.

I think the same but dont know

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 17th, 2021-21:43
We could go into a very long discussion about this as handmade is a very ......complicated term in watch making! I am also curious tho if the handmade title can be given to people like Masahiro Kikuno or other such people (Christai...

👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿 I’ll let the masters of watch journalism delve into this long and complicated discussion

LMAO, perfect!!

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 18th, 2021-04:41
They are one of , if not the, best watch journals out there! will def check it out!

That makes sense!!

 By: Spencer Karrington : October 17th, 2021-21:44
I think i heard something similar before! thanks for doing the reserach to find out! Now we know for next time!

Many have made the same comment about the AdeC vibes.

 By: Lankysudanese : October 14th, 2021-05:20
And regarding RG: not many brands can match RG’s finishing. Maybe Greubel and Ferdinand Berthoud, but that’s it

Collaboration watches are now like pop-up shops....

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 13th, 2021-21:02
even brands collab with famous watch blogs starting from Hodxxkxx, Fraxxllx, Time&Txxx, Revxxxxxn, etc. It's all about making money, come on....be nice, everyone wants to have more $ in their bank accounts. In the end, only us, "the collectors", who a...

Love your ‘look at the bright side’ mentality.

You clearly having been sullied by the experience of witnessing the battles in the hodinkee comments section 🤣🤣🤣

Haven’t*

 By: Lankysudanese : October 14th, 2021-11:10

I can sense some negativity here and there

 By: VinnieD : October 13th, 2021-21:12
But these watches are just superb. I am an absolute sucker for the hands of the black dialled one. They will be out of my reach and that is fine.

Wickedly cool dial 🔥

🤔🙊

 By: holdemchamp1225 : November 24th, 2021-17:42

Actually, I’m not a fan of these two models. It appears they wanted to go in a more sport like direction.

 By: aperna : October 17th, 2021-12:26
However in my opinion if they had a better water resistance an a screw down crown perhaps these would appeal to me a little bit more

Excellent critique. I’m not a fan neither. I’m partial to what made the brand famous (their pebble shaped cases and natural escapement movements and austere dials).

 By: Lankysudanese : October 17th, 2021-13:06
I have a Longines heritage re-issue (which, in spite of being a rei-issue of an original naval watch, has only 30m WR 🤷🏿‍♂️) and am looking at Atelier de Chronometrie, so this particular LF does nothing for me. But it’s all subjective, isn’t it? 😁 ...
