It was a policy decision along the way taken by the Meylan family to restrict it to certain models to make it more special.
The double hairspring is also a complex bit of kit. Presumably adjusting and regulation will also be time consuming.
The same step was taken in terms of the size of screws as the older models had several different sizes that required the Technician to change screw drivers each time. This was made uniform after the take over. As in number of different sized screws was brought down in the later movements.

Fantastic overview and nice to see my own watch featured here (the first one in Palladium and fume dial). What I did not know is that the use of the double hairspring seems to be haphazard.
Some of the older Palladium Endeavour models had it, most of the limited edition Endeavours had it, and then the recent Heritage perpetuals have it.

It’s clever and clean. I wish they had ditched the sub seconds for their moon which I also always liked
I personally like the center seconds on the Perpetual Moon.
It prevents the dial from being too empty and static, imo. But you say 'small seconds', so I might misunderstand what you mean. Best, Emmanuel ...

I think part of the intent was to be practical and very legible. A debatable aesthetic choice, but a very interesting take on the PC complication imo. Best, Emmanuel
