Christian Lass prototype!
Nov 25, 2020,05:03 AM
Is I have written a bit about earlier, a danish watchmaker Christian Lass, has now finished his first prototype. The prototype has a silver case, german silver dial and the movement still needs finishing, but the overall picture is clear.
I am very impressed by so many things in this watch:
his case work featuring concave and convex curves all build from a rod of silver, his design of the movement including a interesting way of adjusting the hairspring and a very elegant setting system inspired by certain Patek pocket watches.
The genava stripes are steller executed without cutting into the bridge. So, so fine.
Also the handengraving looks flawless, very amazing!
Initial thoughts and questions are most welcome!

Yes, it's sits perfectly on my wrist at slightly less than 38 mm. The bezel is thin, so the dial is relatively large. The case is 9 mm in height and the domed crystal (which follows the case) gives it a total height of around 11,5 mm
This is impressive work

Christian worked at Vianney Halter's atelier during the start of his career, and you can see some influence there in his current dial. There are some echoes of Halter's classic watch, especially in the way he beveled the chapter ring. Does anyone have an ...
I thought the same

The dial is referential to the VH Classic which is in no way a bad thing!
I am not sure what the price going forward will be, but

the plan is to make some more. The current watch is not part of a official series yet, but being a time only it would fit pretty good into one. He has talked a bit about that, so it's likely. Don't wait to long though as he can only make a handful each ye...

...the logo on the dial could be slightly less bold so as not to compete with the numerals of similar weight.
The name could be a bit smaller along with the curved base...

...I would consider just engraving it in a straight line below 12 on the dial. But barring that, they both (name and numerals) appear to be a 'bold' face. The name should be subordinate to the numerals, so I would render the name in a 'regular' face. Over...
Very, very nice!
