Glad to have this baby back after a long wait.
Inspired by the community’s beautiful CP-2 I’ve been chasing this rare Universal Genève version from Cairelli in Rome.
Everything was fine and authentic when I finally found it. But the movement was totally crap and worn down completely, with wheels worn down and clips holding it together.
It has undergone a total restauration using parts from a new donor movement from a gold UN chrono where the gold case had been stripped during one of Argentina’s multiple cash crises.
Thank you to Christian Lass for this amazing work. Glad I got him to do his probably last restauration job ever. No He’s just too busy with his manufacture now, which is so great!

Now I have to find out which strap to give it. Was thinking it should be some vintage mesh or steel of some sort. Like the one from the Phillips auction in 2016

Wonder what strap would be good. Which direction would you go?

I think a vintage (looking) steel bracelet would look good or maybe a well worn NATO. Something new and pristine looking would detract from the watch in my opinion. I had the same problem with a Tudor from the 1950s and decided on an old Speidel. Regards Kev.

Found this vintage style riveted one that came from a 5513 i bought; ended up finding the right Rolex bracelet for it. Works well and really showcases how over-sized these CP-2s were at the time.
