This must be a new brand on the block: ...

I like the Comblémine dials, particularly one for the pt case.

Pics from Hodinkee One OCD thought: The "swirl" should go the other way on the sub seconds dial guilloché. Not any sort of bother, but if you stick a spoon into a jar of honey and turn the spoon clockwise, then the swirl will be the opposite way. That's w...

Looks cool, but I'm not sure I'm a fan yet.

The real question is whether it will stand the test of time as a brand, and just how good their product really is. I think we need people to test it out!

Pass..

Personally, I feel like this doesn't have much personality to it, it feels bland & uninspired. The finishing is nice but nothing special. Design is not offensive, but nothing special. Movement is nice, but nothing special. The price point is also very, ve...

Yeah...I'm gonna agree with you

The welds DO look rough. In fact, if we're going by the lights of this kind of pricing...yikes. It's a bit like the Biver: unremarkable.

Exactly what I felt looking at this

There's no one thing that stands out to me for this watch, at this price point. Dial is cool, but nothing new that Sartory Billard or the myriad of Comblemine-dialed smaller brands can get. For this price, there are much better finished movements (esp som...

I can appreciate the focus and intent to undertake a brand launch. Hope it goes well for them.

The choice of tantalum is also commendable. Every time I see a tantalum cased watch it gets my attention - something I'd like to try one day.

This watch is based on a formula that is getting really tired. ...

I believe it started with the Schwarz Etienne "Voutilainen" collaboration. Then many others followed suit, Moritz Grossman limited editions, Sartory Billard, Laine come to mind - by the way, all of those are far better value that this proposal. Sartory Bi...

...

Looks great!

For me it made sense that an established movement manufacturer would go and seek one of the best dial suppliers. It was also very reasonably priced ...

Looking forward to seeing one or two in person.

At a high level I like how these look. However the issue for me with any project like this is I don’t know how I feel about the fact that there is no single watchmaker behind the brand. (And that is a much more relevant comment for me at these price point...

In MB&Fs case, there is a completely unique aesthetic that nothing on the market is even close to. Their movements are very unique aesthetically and functionality wise.

Yes, I think I’m saying the same in the reply just above.

 By: Jay (Eire) : March 12th, 2024-13:01
For me, my point was even with arguably much stronger of a story I would have been similarly hesitant with MB&F. I think it’s the model of business that gives me pause, and the only way to overcome that is building a track record. So it’s a wait and see a...

Of course.

Now that wouldn’t (didn’t) change my view as stated above, and in fact that may have made the sell even harder to the average collector. But the point I think you are making is that this is another classic round watch, nice dial, perhaps more visually int...

Thanks for the mention Jay!

Happy to show you the watches when I'm back in town with the prototypes. As an aside, I appreciate all the comments here (I still do try to find the time to lurk here from time to time!). I've always maintained that taste is a personal thing, and just as ...

Many thanks James, I’m sure there are many more here like me that look forward to seeing the watches whether that be in NYC or elsewhere.

We all have our preferences and individual tastes when it comes to watches and like you say that’s just a personal thing. And each of us will view new brands, like Fleming or even something else I know is close to your heart and well known around here lik...

Lovely watches and a great first effort

 By: sham1 : March 12th, 2024-01:38
but the pricing leaves too much to be desired.

I think we’ve said this before…

 By: Jay (Eire) : March 12th, 2024-13:03
…but 50-70k is the new 20-30k. It just seems to be so as all these new watches over the last 3-5 years have shown. Like you, I can’t get my head around it.

I however have decided to turn in the opposite direction

 By: sham1 : March 12th, 2024-14:53
and look for value watches under the 5k mark! I shall be posting a review shortly on a lovely watch by an unknown independent.

I like the movement design on this

Classic piece overall and I wish the brand the best

Feels bit like Ming to me…

For this type of creation, what are we buying? Brand? Design? Workmanship? A story is needed and they seem to have something to tell including all the people they convinced to come together to collaborate on the project. The clean and simple design caught...
