Hublot's rubber strap and clasp is OUTSTANDING.
I have owned several Big Bangs over the years and the strap / clasp / adjustability and subsequent comfort is second to none.

.....didn't blatantly label it as a women's watch. There are men who like diamonds too :)
The intent may have been to produce a unisex . . .

The real reason for the extra comfort is the top of the strap.
It does have metal reinforcement as you mention but it is executed much differently than the AP you compare to. The Hublot strap can be bent straight down from those lugs; that is simply impossible on an AP w/ the plot system. AP's croco and leather strap...
