When I look at my watches...

...I like to think of the craft, the attention to detail, the design, the brand history, the innovation, the masterful mechanical precision accumulated over centuries of trial-and-error, etc. I do not like thinking of monetary value in the least.
When I look at one of my watches and find myself thinking more of aftermarket prices (maybe because it seems to be all that anyone discusses about that specific watch on the many forums), I start to lose interest in the watch. I buy to appreciate, wear, and enjoy (this is a hobby).
It's not a clear line obviously, but for me this is not meant to be a money-counting past-time. There are other activities for that. So those watches naturally start to spend more time in a box rather than on my wrist...and then I realize it's time for them to go to someone else as the enjoyment for me is gone based on what I value with this hobby.
