The Sports Watch
Sports Watch Grande Seconde Bracelet
J*D’s attempt to a sports watch, joining the innards of a Grande Seconde with a (elaborate) rugged case. Does this work? It does because of the well-choosen blend of elements of the traditional and an accentuation of the new. The latter for example is the raised filed of the dial, creating a ‘cushion’ that seems to embrace and protect the hands.
A second aspect is that the Sports collection exchanges subtle differences with bold distinctions. Look at the stark contrast between dark and light:
The news this year is the bracelet, combining rubber with steel:
Haven’t we seen this (and the usage of rubber, e.g. on the bezel, crown) before? Right, with the sister company Blancpain:
It’s certainly a sports watch that can be worn outside the gym as well, as long as you can handle 45mm of metal:
Sports Watch Tourbillon
One of those watches where you really have to think WHY? One of the most precious of complications put in a case destined to stand the most enduring conditions… does such a combination make – conceptually! – sense (let’s disregard the fact that the result may be aesthetically pleasant!)?
Quite in the centre stand a flying tourbillon. Not ‘a’ toubillon but a very special and easily recognisable one if you look closer:

It is of course a variant of the flying tourbillon developed by Vincent Calabrese, then adopted, with a huge power reserve of 8 days, by Blancpain.
The funny thing is that this tourbillon is the least ‘disturbing’ of all exposed tourbillons we have seen before:
