The Peak Magazine interview

Sep 15, 2024,06:22 AM

The Peak is a well established Asian regional luxury focussed publication with many thousand subscribers.

The print edition just came out this week as well.

They approached me to do this 4 page article because they wanted to hear from collectors of “non-mainstream brands”.

They recognize that many collectors are now looking beyond mainstream and want to add pieces that have heritage and yet retain lower production numbers.

For those who know.

Hope you enjoy the article.

Through GP archives is like searching for the car keys in my wife’s handbag 🤣

Thanks Goh. Not sure if GP management would

agree … 😆 I don’t think they like it much when I call them out for not protecting the brand image. Oh well, tough love. 🤝

Very much enjoyed that read Marc!

was a Girard Perregaux F-50 Perpetual Calendar in yellow gold which I bought new in 1996. I could have happily stayed with G-P as my only brand. They are seriously underrated and under appreciated. Kurt ...

Thanks Marc

IMHO where GP really stands out is their complications - 3 bridges tourbillons (not 1, but necessarily 3), Opera's, Jackpot, Venus-based splits, etc. They are amazing, truly unique there and more interesting than many bigger brands and independents.

Totally agree.

GP is really two companies in one. The haute horolgerie … the models you mentioned above. And the more “normal” models such as the laureato and such. The two categories are created and worked on in two totally different departments Now that you mention it...

She’s a beaut ☀️

I think the nice thing about neo vintage GPs is the wide variety of models. It was quite extensive and they were quite brave back then. 🤝

Thanks very much Bill. ☀️

With your knowledge, passion and in-depth analysis on GP, maybe you can write a book on their history and future.😇

Excellent article, great to see the depth of your collecting and knowledge.

Marc, Appreciate the time you take to share your knowledge too. GP has fab history and their watches are too often overlooked. Cheers, Tim
