The photo of the original on Hodinkee is a little darker than the reissue. I wasn't sure if that was due to the material or the lighting.
Does anyone have any opinion on the re-edition of the Benrus I?

Personally, I find the inexorable introduction of reissues and homages rather stale.
And the only argument for them that makes sense is that limited availability of the original, plus the cost and practicality of those rare pieces, means few collectors can enjoy them. I'm still not sure though that that's reason enough to keep producing c...
I like it, a lot !! It is an almost carbon copy edition apart from the lume and sapphire crystal which add to practicality and makes it a True 30 atm watch. All you need to `unsee ` is that its new and we are all used to seeing a 30 -40 year old version
of this one. So even if it may a bit flat i am sure in real life you will like it a lot better. And no fake pati nova lume ;-) This is how it would have come out of the box 40 years ago i think.

Why does this leave some of you cold?
I know nothing about this or the original watch, but from the photo in the Hodinkee article, it seems like a dead ringer for the original. I like minimalistic designs (I'm wearing a Unimatic U1-DW as I type this), so this Benrus scratches me where I itch....
I think it looks good.
I love the fact there is no text on the dial. But, the price in expensive for a Benrus.

That's one of the reasons I bought a Stowa Flieger Classic Chrono - no text on the dial.

that bugs me is the steel itself: the originals seem to use a very special kind of steel which makes it look very industrial photo: Benrus II, credit Mostra Store ...

I think this one has the look of a reedition. Hands are too white. colors of the lume (orange and green) is not visible. I have doubt about the wieght of the font on the bezel. In general, I have an issue with re-editions. I dont like them! Make a new wat...
