I love my Zodiac Sea Wolf. The date feature doesn't bother me but I rarely set it unless it is only one or two days off. The reason for this is that it doesn't have a quick-set date so the hour hand has to go back and forth past 12:00 and back to 9:00 to ...

I sometimes do that with my Nomos!
As it doesn't have a quick set date either - then just wear it for a chunk longer. Cheers JML
I have a watch
That needs to go from 12 back to 6 and forward to advance the date. It did loosen my pinion and I had to fix it a couple of times. If it’s a couple of days behind then set it otherwise wait.
I unfortunately don’t know if there is a relationship to the off-set canon pinion,
