Horological Meandering

Swiss industry quotes the "fixed" return rate as

5%: that's the figure you get from everyone whether they sell $1000 watches or $10,000 watches  (mechanical).

Naturally, one expects that small production pieces would have a lower return rate but that is hard to prove with sample sizes of 20 pieces per model smile

Certainly, there are super duper complicated watches with seemingly 80% return rates...thinking of one infamous model from a "very old House".

One expects that stock standard movement, simple, time-only watches would be almost immune from failure and have lower rates of return....say....2% or lower but Brands never want to lower the quoted threshold when everyone accepts the oft quoted 5%  smile
