Most magazines,journalists ....and watch forums are financially dependent from the watch industry (the popular names).

Did get a couple baseball caps over the decades, and Panerai was kind... on my second PAM procurement i got a vest (gave it to my wife's daughter). Oh, and a green Rolex candle. So... After 25 years, three caps, a candle, and vest. Oh and a few springbars...

It interests me why it's so difficult to be honest in watch review spaces. After all, these are really expensive items a lot of the time. If the houses that make them really are venerable to the extent they pretend, it should be part of the discourse to h... 

Like music has many different genres, and painters have their styles / inspiration... so does artistry by watchmakers. And, thankfully, we have choices of 'horological art'. Love seeing how the many independent watchmakers express their craft ❤️

Most independents have risk when they use a completely proprietary movement. Usually these movements are far less reliable than a well regulated ETA movement too. I love that theoretically anyone can service a common movement like ETA.

...when many of them will be out of business.

At school, I learned on 6497 ; 2892 ; 7750. And I am confident that pretty much every watchmaker had the same movements in hands during his studies. However, service will require to have access to spare parts but as long as those brands use ETA manufactur... 

You rarely even hear the name

If Rolex puts 3 lines on a watch instead of 4 it’s on every watch site. Pathetic really.

He made the point that designing a movement that is truly reliable for years of wearing, made with ease of service in mind, rate stable and capable of fine tuning--this is not so very easy. At one point saw more high end in-house movements coming in for s... 

Not so sure about this for the many fancy (beautiful looking and finished) movements from the small hyped independents.

I understand that these days, decoration tends to be associated to a watchmaking skill, however, if there is no technical improvement on the base movement, I don't really call it watchmaking. Decoration and more precisely finishing is definitely an import... 

I also appreciate the skills that go into case,dial and movement finish.
