Horological Meandering

It's going to affect people differently...

For someone getting into their first piece of haute horlogerie who pays less emphasis to case material and wants a three-hand dress watch with petite seconds.
The Toric is definitely a complete package and a compelling value; gold case, date, large sweep seconds. No doubt there. And yes, the Toric Chronometre is a more direct competitor with a Patek 5296 or a Lange Saxonia Automatic with date (which is no longer in production).
But what I really wanted to do here is to compare the Tonda in steel to some other non-date and petite second timepieces that were in the same movement finish category. And show the great value the Tonda in steel is. And the Tonda brings in a sweet spot. A great modern design, handsome, and loaded with beneficial features that aren't offered by the traditional big brands like Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin for a price that you can't get elsewhere except for maybe a Chopard L.U.C timepiece.
