Obviously, Longines vintage movement isn't as immaculately finished as the G-F, or any KV or PD. But given the context of it being produced with tools, techniques, and materials available in the middle of the twentieth century and considering it was standard production, I would give it the nod as the most appropriate candidate for the honor.

Agreed that the finishing of this watch is excellent but
how does it compare against the Simplicity or the other offerings from GF?! Hand made does not always mean better finishing although in this case the finishing is outstanding as it should be given the price of the watch.

But one cannot be definitive about this. May be some collector can chime in. But then in a watch of this uniqueness, technically complete, artisanal achievement and finish, the aspect of accuracy might be a tad low on a buyer’s priority. Just my thoughts....

Rolex is a machine assembly line
..of superbly robust watches, where the only hand-made element is in the form of gem-setting. To compare that with handmade watches from the independents would be too generous IMHO.

Now, this is aesthetically much more pleasing to my eyes than the GF.
But then again, I’m not qualified to assess finishing at this level.
