My guess is the watch manufacturers 1) do not do focus groups, 2) are interested in the viewpoints of collectors but don't necessarily follow them, for example, date windows, and 3) primarily reflect the strong-willed CEO's vision in their new models; for example, I'd bet the Code 11.59 was the baby of Mr Bennahmias and what he wanted he got.
All speculation on my part.
