The crystal has the wavy lines that remind me of a Sarpaneva, and the case and crown have a little similarity to a Sarpaneva.

And I would agree with you, Patrick, my favorite is the short run of ultra thin pieces they produced - the 27.01 & 27.02. The extensively customized ETA Peseux 7001 movements by Schwarz-Etienne are very eye-pleasing. ...

Last time my cards kept getting bounced. Yeah, I know... I know how to fix it. (deep sigh, eye roll)

Then I switched to my trusty VISA Infinite card, and it worked. My AMEX also always works, but I don't think they accepted AMEX at the time. One of the watch brands that does these kinds of online drops doesn't accept AMEX.

The site is very specific about deposits being non-refundable. All very well for them to avoid risk, but for something you actually wear which you can’t try on or see anywhere? How many of us have bought a watch and said Oops, that was a mistake? I had a ... 

These companies are trying to have the clients fund their venture... So that way they can reduce their risk and reduce their financial exposure. It's financially a smart move for the company. But it's annoying for clients!

Some of the editions, like the 27 series, and the 17.09 blue/burgundy models sold out in less than five minutes. This one should be available for a couple days I hope. Since they're releasing 2000 examples! That's 6 million Swiss Francs in revenue! Which ... 

It's an "online drop" style of sale. Very different to a queue system. Thus, no queue. You buy it online at the time specified. But yes, depending on what timezone you're in, you might have to wake up at an inconvenient time to get your watch!

I don't know if that's a first for them. It's a nice touch. Much more expensive than the usual 316L steel for MING. And they can't charge much more for titanium.

I agree with you that the Kyoto wins out by a hair.

I've already got plenty of commitments this year, so I don't plan to order one.

Not advocating you do that. But it's a solution! The Kyoto is definitely very easy for me to like. And the Gilt has a lot of personality! Can't go wrong with either!

I kinda like the Kyoto, but more so that I like the idea of the green more so than the execution. In the press photos however the Gilt seems more cohesive. Hard to know what I would prefer in the metal.
