Kind of a hard choice between two such brilliant pieces. I feel the 1815 would get a LOT more easy natural wrist time. But the Halter is one of those watches that is like owning a piece of Michelangelo's David or something... a 'piece' of a genius's work. Now, personally, I had several opportunities to buy the Halter, and each time, for different reasons, did not buy. Why? Although I LOVED IT!!!! I knew it would remain at the fringe of my collection, rarely getting worn... I ultimately did buy watches I would wear as often as possible... SO.... IF you are the kind of guy who would wear that Halter a LOT, (or equally as much as the Lange) then I'd go Halter, no contest. But if it will remain a strange and magical fringe watch... well.... I'd happily and proudly choose the 1815, then, and bask in my good fortune either way. And since you are looking for us to help actually decide--I will throw my hat in with the Halter, because, at the end of the day, it will remind you , you are and always will be a true collector--and only true collectors, watch-fiends, know about or could ever even discover a watch like that! Not to mention, it is a far more personal watch than the Lange, made in tiny numbers. The Artist Watchmaker really made it, and the crazy story of this watch's creation is also wonderful, a mess, and great for telling.... Keep the Halter--OR--refer to the first half of my post. So several months ago I bought a Lange 1815 Chronograph, that just wasn't running right. I sent it into Lange service, and while it was there bought a Vianney Goldpfeil. Well economically speaking, I do not feel comfortable keeping both. Which one should ...
It really depends on which one you would like to wear more often...
Personally, I would go for 1815 CHR because (1) it is semi-icon of Lange and (2) it is more wearable as a business watch, IMHO. Again, it depends on your taste and your life style. Good luck and I hope you pick whichever you really love. Ken
Think Different, keep the Goldpfeil!
Everybody will tell you that you have to keep the Lange, or to stay with both of them, BUT: The Goldpfeil is a magic watch, when the 1815 Chrono is only a wise and beautiful watch. The Goldfeil is a crazy watch, on,e of those who made me dream about watch...
Maybe I should add that the Goldpfeil has been worn about 6 times since
Vianney did a total service on a non running NOS watch that was just stored for to long unused. So essentially both watches are perfect.
The Lange is classically styled...
...and as such, will still be in style for the foreseeable future. The Goldpfeil will look dated very quickly, as styles and tastes change.
IF..
you are insistent on ridding yourself of one, then it should be the Lange... You can pick another one up once you realise you should never have let it go.. G
I like the Goldpfeil even if I didn't see one in the metal.
But if it was me in your shoes, I would stay with the Lange.
I don't think I could part with that Lange

... think! Which one would spend more time on your wrist? Imagine yourself with either watches.... whether you are a rebel or not , after all, a hobby is not for others, but for yourself to really enjoy - which one will give you more joy down the road.......

stainless steel Roger Smith watch ever made. Other then that I only have 4 vintage pieces. So essentially the Goldpfeil would keep me somewhat focused on independents.

The Lange
The Goldpfell is unusual, but somewhat trendy looking. I doubt it will hold it's appeal 20 years from now (assuming this matters, and that you would keep it that long) The Lange is classic, and will always satisfy. My tastes in watches, as you can imagine...

I would keep VH GF
- Much much easier to replace a 1815 Chrono than VH GF if you regret the decision later on - The 1815 Chrono have a newer version and is likely to be in the Lange portfolio for a long time, the VH GF is the one and only that will never ever happen again

Lange all the way
In 5, 10, 20 years - the classic design of the Lange will look just as good as it does today. Can you say that for the other? Sure, it's a very cool watch. But look at some of the cool watches from the 70s, 80s... not so cool today.
I'd keep the Goldpfeil
