Well I can't keep both.... need some help please :-)
So several months ago I bought a Lange 1815 Chronograph, that just wasn't running right. I sent it into Lange service, and while it was there bought a Vianney Goldpfeil. Well economically speaking, I do not feel comfortable keeping both. Which one should I keep, I can't decide. Also, the situation is made a little harder in that I can try on the Goldpfeil, but not the 1815. I decided not to wear it at all until I know if I am going to keep it.
Here are some pics, they both are amazing watches. LOL, maybe I will keep both after all.

It really depends on which one you would like to wear more often...
Personally, I would go for 1815 CHR because (1) it is semi-icon of Lange and (2) it is more wearable as a business watch, IMHO. Again, it depends on your taste and your life style. Good luck and I hope you pick whichever you really love.

Think Different, keep the Goldpfeil!
Everybody will tell you that you have to keep the Lange, or to stay with both of them, BUT:
The Goldpfeil is a magic watch, when the 1815 Chrono is only a wise and beautiful watch.
The Goldfeil is a crazy watch, on,e of those who made me dream about watches, Independant watches.
The Goldpfeil is a kick in the ... to those who always say ' Hey, you can't read the Time " when I much prefer " hey what a nice touch of poetry ".
Think different, be a rebel, sell the Lange.
After all, you are already a rebel, since you bought this watch.

Maybe I should add that the Goldpfeil has been worn about 6 times since
Vianney did a total service on a non running NOS watch that was just stored for to long unused. So essentially both watches are perfect.
The Lange is classically styled...
...and as such, will still be in style for the foreseeable future.
The Goldpfeil will look dated very quickly, as styles and tastes change.

I like the Goldpfeil even if I didn't see one in the metal.
But if it was me in your shoes, I would stay with the Lange.
I don't think I could part with that Lange
But it is also my favorite Lange timepiece and one of my two favorite "dress" chronographs.
Looking forward to seeing what you decide.

Depends on what watches you have in your collection
Hi Jas, IMHO, it depends what watches and how many you have in your collection. If it is varied in style and numbers like Nico's vast collection, I would say be a rebel, the VH appeals to me and I am a bit of a rebel in what I buy. If your collection is more focussed , I would say the Lange 1815 chronograph. I had the opportunity to " roadtest" a friend' s pink gold , black dial 1815 chrono and I liked it a lot. I hope you will keep both.

My collection is pretty lean these days. I do however have the only....
stainless steel Roger Smith watch ever made. Other then that I only have 4 vintage pieces. So essentially the Goldpfeil would keep me somewhat focused on independents.
In this case, VH Goldpfeil
You then have 2 rare and significant independents.

But then again, I'm somewhat obsessed with it and its little brother the Jutzi Goldpfeil. If I ever have the opportunity to own either I will be very fortunate and happy, but the VH is especially special.
Would you like to trade the VH for one of my children? I have two, and I'm sure that's more than enough...

The Lange
The Goldpfell is unusual, but somewhat trendy looking. I doubt it will hold it's appeal 20 years from now (assuming this matters, and that you would keep it that long) The Lange is classic, and will always satisfy. My tastes in watches, as you can imagine from these comments, runs to the classic/conservative (except for my Muller Crazy Hours!).
Keep the Goldpfeil
and get a Datograph instead of the 1815 Chrono in the future

You have a nice problem here.....
Both classic watches, though not both with classical styling. Each an icon.
I have owned both of these watches, and sold both of these watches. The one I regret selling more is the 1815 Chrono (though I am also a big Lange fan).
if you are after a rare indie piece, obviously the answer would be the VH GF. 1815 a more "stable" piece in regard to its status as a wonderful dress chrono, and ease of use and service.

Keep those two, but sell the SS Roger Smith; you know where you can send it, and it will be given a very good home here!

I would keep VH GF
- Much much easier to replace a 1815 Chrono than VH GF if you regret the decision later on
- The 1815 Chrono have a newer version and is likely to be in the Lange portfolio for a long time, the VH GF is the one and only that will never ever happen again
