Horological Meandering

I have not done this for a loooong time so you can imagine how hard this is for me. 3 options I have..... 1) Have both watches....but I will have a hard time to convince myself that. 2) Just keep the Resonance as it is a unique function. 3) Have the Tourb...  

CL, It is tough. The unique Resonance or the Tourbillon Remontoir. If you must do ONE, I guess the Resonance: its cheaper, more unique and fascinating theoretical concept. There are many tourbillons out there although, the FPJ one is quite slim for easy u... 

I like the part where you say 'it is cheaper'...it is so true and many people forgets that simple part of the equation :-) *CL

if it is "forever" I guess I would pick the tourbillon because I think at some point the Resonance will be too hard to wind with old fingers ... at least that is something I sometimes think about! Otherwise I cannot imaging being without the Resonance, my... 

this Resonance has been serviced and it's not that difficult to wind. It's just a matter of how use to it you are. Though I think I will have a hard time to set the time when I get older...haha

because it's a more interesting watch to look at visually IMO. Cheers, Anthony

until two girls I know and another gentleman who owns both watches told me the other way. Then again , is look worth double the price ? hmmm....good question for me to think over the holidays :-)

It's the watch dial that you'll be drooling over whenever the watch is on your wrist :) Keep the watch that mesmerizes your eyes. I stared at the tourbillon cage a lot when I had my Journe. I've never had a Resonance but I don't think I would stare as oft...

inorder to have enough fund for the gyrotourbillon. For the general public, I would need two set of these to get the Gyro...it's way over price and oversize :-P

Very hard to choose between these siblings. But if you HAVE to keep only one ... It really comes down to your gut feeling. Both watches are characteristically 'F.P.Journe'. The resonance concept is fairly unique, but the combination of remontoir and tourb... 

I like both the look :-) The tourbillon is incomplete , with no original paper and manual but has the replacement paper. It also has a chip on the crystal which can be fixed easily during servicing. So yes, it will need to send for servicing at one point.... 

After these extra infos…….RESONANCE ALL THE WAY:price,condition,horological relevance,character ,uniqueness…etc etc… Mo

The key to me is if you need two time zones. If not, then the tourby has so much more to offer. If instead it is more of a concept decision for uniqueness and icon, then th resonance. I for one prefer the latest resonance since I overcome the second time ...

My view is that I would choose the resonance hands down. It is the iconic journe, the complication is amazing, and when factoring the extras (including recent service)... it would be the definitive choice for me. OpC

As I am a Resonance owner myself, but it is the iconic Journe. Also just in terms of aesthetics I like it better.

I think one more factor to add is the availability/rarity of both watches ? If the tourby is rarer, that ups the acquisition desire to own it. Assuming you like both the resonance and tourby just as much. Perhaps the fact that you even mentioned it here i... 

Both are marvelous pieces! Lovely color on both dials. As a fellow FPJ tourby owner contemplating potentially adding a resonance, one thing that is holding me back from acquiring the piece is the fact the resonance is more readily available on the second ... 

difficult it is to find this Resonance. I can buy the ruthenium one if I want now but it takes a lot to get the shiny dial Resonance :-) *CL

CL, You have opened my eyes. Until now I did not have much interest in gold colored dials, so had assumed the shiny YG dials are as easily gettable as the later matte versions! Very fascinating stuff, thanks for letting me know. Now I'm adding the shiny Y...

and seeing how the two dials are totally synchronized on the Resonance, it would have to be my pick. It's just an amazing dial! Tourbillons don't have the same cachet for me as it once did. The full package seals the deal IMO. Best fernando

...that these two are my most favorite Journe's so far -- the early PT with shiny yellow gold dial. You always make good and wise decisions my friend. So whatever you end up with, I'll agree with you.:)
