An introduction to my 2023 Watches and Wonders visit.

 By: amanico : April 10th, 2023-15:26
Let me start with a disclaimer. I could only attend the Watch Event for 28 hours, so I didn't have the time I used to have before. Still, I could visit most of the booths, so I decided to make a selection of what I found interesting. This is just my perso...

looking forward to this...expensive but mechanically fascinating IMHO

esp. the fuse-chain remontoir mechanism is extremely well made.

True, true... ;)

That FB is amazing….

I think Rolex and Cartier were the winners of this year

I am also happy with what Ressence did and with that beautiful LUC.

that's for sure hahaha

You are maybe right...

 By: amanico : April 10th, 2023-15:57

Thank you Nico, excellent summary

 By: Aquaracer1 : April 10th, 2023-16:12
The 2 Chopard time-only are the stars of the show for me. Not much else excited me from this years show. The Black Bay 54 did catch my attention. Not to buy, because BB58 is the perfect size for me. But because they are experimenting with smaller when mos...

Many thanks for your W&W summary.

I agree that there was not much of interest. Surprising, in fact, as I usually discover some excellent new releases. But not this year. The only real standout for me is the JLC Reverso Chrono with the cool blue dial. A very nice piece, and I'm happy to se...

Maybe both! Cheers

Haha... Good answer!

 By: amanico : April 10th, 2023-20:17

Bravo Nico

I love your personal take on W&W. Chopard definitely has put on a great show this year as did JLC. The prices however are ridiculous. For me Tudor always interests me. BB54 for my personal favorite. I like your choice, I only wish it were smaller Best Gat...

Merci!

fully agreed, rather mediocre presentations

 By: penfriend : April 10th, 2023-17:46
nothing that flashed me except the RH automotive pieces from PP the unveiled timekeeper has got a much too bulky case!

Smashing post as always Nicolas!

I am very much looking forward to your review on the Reverso chrono. I think it is great, but I just cannot justify the price (though remains just about affordable, the price just does not sit quite well with me - maybe because of its size; not sure). Cho...

I cannot wait! 👍

 By: KCLQMULKU : April 11th, 2023-21:34

Duly noted.

 By: amanico : April 10th, 2023-20:18

My thoughts exactly

LUC 1963 Heritage a very classy understated achievement

Agree with you about the lack of true new and amazing releases

 By: Watchonthewrists : April 10th, 2023-19:08
A bit tamed imho. Although i am not the biggest fan of the brand i do like that titanium YM 👌🏻.

Pleasure, M4. ;)

Great shots as usual...

Interesting Nicolas, looking forward to some of these reviews.

You hit on a few that caught my eye too, although I don’t think I’ve seen everything. The Reverso Chrono definitely caught my eye, I just wish the no chrono dial was a little more interesting to me. Also, unsure about how it would be on my smaller wrist s...

And I should add, I do like that the original “F U watch” got a 21st century makeover.

 By: Jay (Eire) : April 11th, 2023-02:16
The Emoji Day Date to me is a fantastic expression of what a modern day “F U watch” should be. Unashamedly gold and in your face, and unapologetically making no sense at all. What day is it? What’s todays date? Who cares. It’s perfect. It would only be mo...

Maybe in person the whole package make sense.

I see a lot of comments about the pricing of the chrono. I guess it remains to be seen what the market thinks once they become available. But the Reverso Chrono and the new 8 Day Octo Finisimo Skeleton in Titanium (with bracelet) are the two watches that ...

Thanks and looking forward for your reviews :)

 By: bsandovalb : April 11th, 2023-03:44
The Chopard Luc 1860 looks incredible... was a favorite.. what do you think of Laurent Ferrier?... love the brand, but did not pay that attention to their new offerings.. a couple of different dial colors and the grand sport tourbillon?... cheers !

I don't understand why you don't like JLC and especially the reverso line....

 By: MilDiver : April 11th, 2023-06:26
If I could only ask for 1 wish in the horological world, is to let JLC be independent again... Great report my friend, Waiting for the reviews...

Thanks for all your work, Nicolas!

Especially looking forward to your reviews on the two Chopard, the two Reversos and the FB! They are the highlights of W&W for me.

I am in complete agreement with you my friend!

 By: singingbee : April 12th, 2023-16:06
Chopard really kills it this year!

Yep!!!

 By: amanico : April 12th, 2023-21:20

In agreement about Chopard.

 By: patrick_y : April 12th, 2023-05:23
Chopard is the winner this year. Congrats to Chopard.

Great post, Nico.

But I’ve to tell that I disagree just in one thing: The Alpine Eagle 41 XPS is not that much, its design is nothing new. It seems that chopard’s design headquarters were too busy and they just rebuild an old idea based on a successful vintage design. Tota...
