Breguet got it right this time, Sam ...
The brown strap with brown stitching is the perfect match to the warm rose gold that Breguet use for their cases. Changing to a black strap may pick out the black dial printing a little more, but it will unbalance the watch to my eyes. Yes, the watch 'head' will stand out on your wrist but it's not the harmonious wearing experience that you want from a Breguet. You could go a shade or two darker brown on the strap and see how that works.
But as usual, it is up to you and worth a try. Please report back on how it goes.

I would prefer the black strap with a white metal case, and the brown strap

personally i dont think gold looks right with a black strap
i cant explain why as black dialled steel watches look great with brown straps, but coloured gold just needs a brown strap imo. G

and here the brown strap works better IMHO. But what about less obvious colours? Deep navy due to the hands colour and grey would work fine... Fx

Hello Sam, I am thinking that a set of thin crocodile straps from Camille Fournet with matte finish and black stitching would do the trick. The watch colour being light allows you to transform from brown to black very easily. Best wishes, Joel

..though i will be honest and say that i prefer the brown strap because it has a touch of warmth/redness that suits the red gold. Hwever i am biaised as i am brown-haired and a bit tanned by nature. :)
My favorite would be the brown one but i would without hesitation wear the black one also.
