That's an intriguing point of view that deserves more consideration and a more thoughtful response than I can muster at the moment.
That said, the brands that I know of that advertise the one watchmaker-per-watch production style are the virtual laughing stock of the practicing watchmakers I know as far as reliability goes. This is clearly anecdotal and not necessarily a condemnation of the "philosophy" so much as its application in a few instances of course, but I find the supporting evidence in agreement with the quality improvement theory at least.

It seems to me that simply assembling the watch is not that big a deal. If I am not mistaken, the assembly operation takes place immediately following each time a watch is taken apart and cleaned. Any competent watchmaker is supposed to be able to do ever...
