Senator Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date . . .
. . . with blue dial on bracelet . . .
. . . grey dial on leather strap . . .
. . . and silver dial on rubber strap.
Usually not given to superlatives, but in this case, I'll make an exception: the Seventies Chronograph is conceptually stunning. I've yet to experience it in the metal; still, at this early vantage, this seems to be the watch that will put G O on an even keel with the established competition amongst premier sports watches. The cal 37-02 differs from the -01 presumably only by dint of its rotating hour counter visible thru an arced aperture, as opposed to the more common fixed 12-hour counter seen on the Senator Chronograph.
More info on the cal 37: the power reserve is seventy hours, implemented with a single barrel. How this is accomplished, I'm not sure. My guess is a novel mainspring technology; perhaps Don or Marcus will have details for us later. The balance is regulated by four gold screws located on the rim, so I'm assuming the whiplash adjusts beat rather than rate (again, hopefully Don or Marcus will fill us in).
I adore this one. Personally swore off chronographs altogether, not too long ago; now, I'd make an exception for a Seventies Chronograph.
