Yes, this example is more "look alike" then the one shown before.
Still not same.
Similar, yes. But that we see in basically all different watch segments.
The point of GP making this Skeleton version of the Laureato I think is natural.
Last year they introduced this movement in the 1966 case, this year in the Laureato case.
We already have see a Laureato Toubillon this year, since before there was a Laureato Tourbillon Three Bridges.
This one is filling a "blank" in the collection.
Last year when the Skeleton movement was introduced, no one made any suggestions the this would be too similar to any other watch:
Now in the Laureato case, people say otherwise. I understand the point of view, but I don't agree. Its an evolution within GP and the Laureato line.
Yes, similar to the RO and many other brands in this segment, but not same.
While on the subject, before the Royal Oak, there were many watches with octagon case/bezel but due to fame, the RO is considered the "original"?
In that case all rectangular watches might be considered Reverso?
And who should claim the round case?
The fact is that through time, all brands has been following each other closer then we (consumers) may know.
Good or bad? I don't know, but its natural.
When it comes to "playing it safe", I think one of the more daring brands (among the established) is GP!
Neo Tourbillon, Neo Bridges, The Planetarium Tri-Axial Tourbillon and Constant Escapement just to mention a few we have seen the last couple of years.
If we take AP as an example, what would be their daring piece? The Start Wheel? Since then?
As for your view about glossy press releases and free drinks, I fully agree!
That is why I pointed out that normally I do not use the official PR material, but in this case, since I personally know Mr. Macaluso, his background in architecture and from where he seeks his inspiration, I thought is was good to include it in this post...
There are any ways to look at things, I understand the point of view, but do not agree.
Another recent example of brands follow each other...
GP 1966 Bridge Tourbillon, launched many years ago...
The MB ExoTourbillon released last year....
If the octagon bezel is a "Trade Mark" for AP, then the Arrow Head Bridge is even more so for GP!
Best, my friend
