Hi everyone!

I just picked up this amazing 4940 and wanted to share it with the GP group and the PuristS more generally.

I only discovered this marvel because of Marc (this_hobby_of_hours), who writes so lovingly about GPs, especially neo-vintage ones. A huge thank you for opening my eyes to these!

I have only been collecting watches for two years, but perhaps the greatest part of this journey has been learning from the community of PuristS. Every day is filled with anticipation about what new knowledge and exquisite timepieces I will encounter. The fact that strangers halfway around the world have been so accepting and so giving with their expertise gives me some hope for humanity even in these challenging times!

I believe there were about 150 of these issued in the late 1990s

Marc wrote a lengthy post in July about this watch, which inspired my interest. I came across one in white gold (virtually), but the seller decided not to part with it. That would have been a catch!

I was about to purchase the watch when the shop realized that the buckle and case were WG. They have contacted GP to learn more. This seemed to be a very rare edition. I will let you know when I hear back from them! Have you heard of a WG salmon dial?

Yes I have heard of the salmon dial and also the black dial with white gold

They also made the black dial with white gold. Very few made. I think less than ten made in white gold. I have the black dial with Breguet numbers in white gold. All very rare. ☺️

I had been hunting for a salmon dial for a while and when Marc talked this GP up on this board, I was smitten! I hunted for several months before one turned up on an auction site. I was lucky to be the high bidder. I am a week or so into the honeymoon and...
