News Flash: Girard Perregaux Laureato 38 Copper!

By: amanico : October 20th, 2022-09:26
Ooooh, here we have some very good news coming from Girard Perregaux which just unveiled the Laureato Copper. Why such a joy from my side? Because I always thought that the 38 mm case was the perfect size for this watch. Add to that a moderate height with...

I love it

Too bad, deposit has been placed for another piece. You’d be proud of me on my next piece. It is very Nico-esque. GP playing it too safe recently by banging on the Laureatos. I wish they released the Seahawk once more, something brutal and fit for harder ...

;)

This one convinces me too. It’s very well done. Next piece is around the same price as this, but from a brand starting with O. I believe you can induce/deduce what it is.=D

Heehee

Yeah, an Omega in a novel material. No date and very clean pure look.

It may take another 10 years haha

But it'll look more beautiful 😊 Yes, true the RO is very thin but as I grow old, I tend to like thin watches. Thank you Nico

I Love it

GP did it very well this time in my opinion Size and dial I will keep an eye on this one but my solace is that I own the skeleton so I’m equally happy

This new release caught my eye as well and is very interesting. I don’t own a GP but for sure will seek them out at my AD.

Maybe it is just perception, but on the flip side I always wondered if the movement in these GP is up to par with competition and offer decent rate…also agree with you it looks small(the movement)

Now you're talking!

By: lm6 : October 20th, 2022-11:15
Looks really interesting. Need to see it in real, but the size seems to be spot on. And I like the color of the dial.

The 38 mm is very welcomed for me. Alas, copper is not my taste.

By: hoseachandra : October 20th, 2022-11:35
And what is the movement? I assume it is GP3300 as usual. The price is a bit too confident. It is almost 50% increase from last price of 38 mm laureatos 2 years ago. It is not a limited price, so i wonder what makes the 50% increase

Same movement as the infinity onyx

38 mm with the gold rotor. A bit of mix and match done here by GP. They also added the Single bridge logo which is good. (Replaced the since 1791 words). If only they would remove the word “Laureato” next 😅 It’s a nice looking dial. I tried on the 38 mm a...

I think they will need

By: SingaporeMarc : October 30th, 2022-15:03
Something at the bottom or the dial maybe a little “flat” ... I read somewhere that they add text to give the dial some “depth”. The royal oak tried to remove automatic and and put it back in. I recall for the Richeville, they eventually moved the “Richev...

Wonderful … do also take

A look at a very rare laureato that is 36 mm but wears likes a 38 mm. The laureato 8010.

I was always looking for a similar combo / dimension but for the datejust..

By: Echi : October 20th, 2022-12:23
as their champagne dial always had to be 2 tone and of course either in 36 or 41. But copper is cool enough and This one would fit the bill nicely if not for the “salty” price This is going to be a hit for sure.

Yes,a beautiful variant of the Laureato,but....

By: jlux : October 20th, 2022-12:29
...with 38mm very small wearing. When I got my 42mm Laureato a few years ago I also tried the 38mm and both my wife and the sales lady cried out : "No way, this is way too small for you" . For everyone having a wrist size of 16cm or above : try before buyi...

Same with me.

By: jlux : October 20th, 2022-13:00
17 cm wrist and usually 38mm wears fine : not however with this Laureato .....

Cool!

By: VinnieD : October 20th, 2022-12:45
after blue, salmon and green, brown/copper could well be the next fashionable colour I like it! 70s vibes all around

Very promising indeed

By: keks : October 20th, 2022-13:24
But suggested price perhaps a bit rich? Also, I would have preferred a titanium with copper dial… but hard to please everyone !

Very nice iteration!

By: Watcholic_id : October 20th, 2022-13:40
really excited to see they reduce the case size to 38mm. and the copper dial is stunning in these pics, will need to see it in real life. I'm intrigued with this, hopefully can give it a try very soon tfs. cheers

I would prefer two markers at 12 since...

By: mdg : October 20th, 2022-14:14
...'Girard Perregaux' is alread spelled out on the dial. Do you know if the dial pattern is stamped? I assume it is. This would be a fantastic beater...

These companies fall in love with design elements that make little sense...

By: mdg : October 20th, 2022-15:27
...it's a watch. Put your name on it somewhere but don't overdo it. Like the 'double G' on the tail of the seconds hand on many Glashütte watches. Too cute and unnecessary...

Yes, similar but quite different. Because of the similarity the Chopard, at 13200 euro in cad, immediately came to mind as a more desirable choice for my taste.

By: oyster case : October 20th, 2022-22:10
I really don’t like the rounded under bezel on the GP. Also not a fan of the smooth edge on the over bezel. So, the whole bezel turns me off When I saw pics of the Chopard it certainly struck me as a mix of elements seen elsewhere but in person it immedia...

I see what you mean with under and over bezel.

However, with the Alpine Eagle comes the screw bits, and this kind of distribution is kind of „special“. I cannot get used to it, despite the beautiful dials!

Having the screws at 3-6-9-12 positions doesn’t strike me as “special”…

By: oyster case : October 23rd, 2022-15:38
I offered my opinion and expanded when you asked. If you don’t like the Chopard I’m not at all inclined to try to convince you otherwise 👍

Here is a competitor

By: Cookies : October 21st, 2022-07:32
Pic taken a few days ago at the Chopard boutique in Sydney. It is priced 3k more than a usual Alpine Eagle with proceeds going to a Eagle conservation foundation. Not mine Not mine ...

There are other pieces which call to me

By: Cookies : October 21st, 2022-08:19
Or “haunt” me. They are the following: O-mega SM300 Bronze Gold Glashutte Original SeaQ chrono Tudor Pelagos 39mm Omega SM300 Professional Green Blancpain FF Bathyscaphe Polar Green (very elusive) Will be collecting my daytona by december, when I travel. ...

It’s not very me

The mysteries of life, are that some areas of myself I do not even see or know about (Johari’s Window). Perhaps there is a flamboyant extrovert that has not been unleashed in me. That piece was chosen for me. I wanted the Deepsea Blue piece but they bough...

I went to try the Omega Ultradeeps

By: Cookies : October 21st, 2022-23:34
I tried all of them. But held back. My fav version on books was the titanium version, however, in reality, the orange version is my favourite, after trying all on. If I could pick between the UD and Deepsea. It will still be the deepsea. Something about i...

I like it. Really like it.

By: MTR : October 30th, 2022-13:54
Although… the too small sized movement turns me off a little bit. And I would prefer this watch with 40mm case size (but in this respect I am„special“, I know).

Going to see this in the metal this week!

I put a deposit down in Dec, and the first one arrived on Sunday. Price is a little $$, but want to check it out. I have been tempted by a Laureato, but whenever given the actual chance to buy one, I’ve passed. The Green 42 was tempting, but I have some o...
