Agree but this was made just after the Ferrari era
GP is and was not perfect. No brand is.
But they often did ONE thing extremely well … proportionality. Balance of dial to case to lugs to case and crystal.
This seems “easy” to some but in reality it is an art form. And a exacting one.
For example, lug-to-lug width for the neo-vintage pieces are often 21 mm. Why not 20 or 22 mm? It’s because of proportions… ratios that were maniacally exacting. I can not think of another brand-model that has 21 mm lug widths.

Well, at that time very few straps in that size where available from other manufacturers. Except of course from GP (or Breguet)…
Fortunately that has changed the last 10 years where now custom straps are widely, cost efficiently and in great quality available everywhere… 👍🏻
In my humble opinion
I do not think that GP made the lug widths 21 mm to sell more straps. But no way to tell for sure either way. Let’s just leave it at that. 🫶🏼

I could stick this dial on another watch and it would mean nothing. Look at the details of the entire watch and read about the provenance as well. Fancy Dial colors alone are but a novelty for the noobs. We are watchprosite purists. We have depth. 🤝
I can say from experience
That the case proportions are perfect. I love my standard 4946. This one is really extra special. My only wish, is that water resistance was upped to make it an all-rounder; my only gripe about a lot of this neo-vintage period.
