Nice job...Echezeaux is a huge commune (around 80 producers), and thus can be highly variable in quality from producer to producer.
I don't believe '97 was a particularly brilliant year in Burgundy, but like almost all years, there are gems to be found from solid producers. I'm not familiar with Bocquenet, and I don't believe I own any of their wines. That latter point doesn't mean an...

Mr. Gatsby drank a good wine in perfect stride entering maturity and based on the colour has years to go. Mr. Gatsby if you loved it and the value/ratio is high (which is hard to find in Burgundy), I’d go on the hunt for some cases.

The nicest Echezeaux right there. That RSV will be incredible too. 1996 was a good year! These are still probably young for DRC wines in a quality year.

...my favourite would be the Romanee St had this vintage,but the 80's versions i drank had a lot of elegance balanced with fruit and some complexity,approachable even when young. lucky you!You'll enjoy them!Drink up!

Oh,they have years to go,both in bordeaux and burgundy,especially the top houses.
They are accessible now with some showing interesting complexities,but will,in some cases,develop even more. Great drinking ahead. best henry

I have yet to lay my lips on DRC. However, I'm sitting on a bottle of DRC Eschezeaux 1999 in my wine fridge. I've read it's a good vintage. I'm just waiting for the right moment. Enjoy yours!
