You made a wonderful choice. And quartz watches are absolutely right for some of us!
The movement inside the middle watch is arguably where quartz started for the European watch industry. It contains the Beta 21 movement, which was a collaboration of over a dozen watch manufacturers in the late 1960s. In the meantime, I’m enjoying this one - and I’m pretty certain that I will be for a long time to come. I seldom get this feeling on day 2 of owning a watch, and the only three that has generated this feeling are still with me after all this while.

I’ll still humour you and bring it along! ;-) On a more serious note - that feeling doesn’t hit me often, and it shows as the watches either don’t get worn or eventually get sold or traded.
One cannot put a value

I was wrong for a long time
There are great quartz watches out there which could equate the joy of mechanicals, though not many, I’d say. This is definitely one I think can hold its own.

Remember seeing these at an AD in Naples and was suprised they are quartz....
I do not remember all the details.. is it a true quartz that needs battery? I also thought this was the watch that the time stops but when picked back up and put in motion it goes back to the correct the time.... not sure I explained this very well... -D-...

But The FPJ cases stood out to me at this store and he let me try on a 50K Platinum piece, forgive me I was so excited I forgot to take a picture and forgot to get the model type! One day hopefully a FPJ will be in my collection! Thank you for sharing you...

Great input to this watch.
This pushes the concept of what a quartz watch can be and as you say is a distant ancestor to the early innovative quartz watches.
I suppose “a few” is quite an understatement. LOL!
I wouldn’t want a clear case back to see the ancestor version of this movement, as great as it may work. Thanks for the history on the movements and origins. Of the three samples you have in the picture, I’ve only seen the Marine Chronometer in the metal....
