Superlative Chronometer...no more.
This is a rant, so please feel free to ignore if (like most of us) you are here for some positive post-COVID-lockdown news.
I just received my first generation batman after I had sent it to geneva headquarters >4months ago for superlative regulation. And how did it perform after the first full wind after coming back from Geneva HQ service? Plus 3.86s/day!!!
Obviously, a large part of the delay was Bc of the COVID-19 shutdown. I’d sent it in because the local Rolex service center was unable to regulate it to the ‘advertised’ plus/minus 2s/day, after I’d given them two cracks at the task.
The watch is beautiful and i purchased it to commemorate the birth of my firstborn, and I’ve missed it as hell during these 4 months. So, in spite of me being a stickler for rate accuracy and isochronism, I don’t plan to part with it for another decade.
I am disappointed. When it was purchased, it ran plus 1.5s/day for 2yrs plus

A few thoughts..
First, very nice watch. I am not a Rolex guy, but the “Batman” is one of the few I find pleasing. That being said, perhaps it just needs to settle in a bit? Also, it is my understanding that watches tend to run fast as the mainspring is nearer to the end;...
The real question is..
Why did you buy a Rolex? If it was to own a Rolex who cares about 3.5 seconds a day...if it was to own a consistent timepiece there are other brands in the category that have IMO better movements.
I'm no spring chicken 😁; let's hear your suggestions for water-resistant shock-resistant good-looking accurate iconic timepieces in that price category. I considered them all when I made the final decision to buy a Rolex.

Personally I've always felt if you want perfect timing buy a quartz. The fetish for mechanical watches to be within a few seconds a day never was my thing.
Really, what is the correct time anyways. Enjoy the beautiful watch and forget about perfect time. And what are you timing it against. Hopefully not a cell phone?
Your opinion is shared by many in the watch community, and I respect that. I just don’t subscribe to it.
I’m timing it with an atomic clock app. FYI: my AP RO never claimed superlative chronometry and it still made ‘the cut’ in terms of ending in my collection. Was I happily-surprised with the stable plus 3.5 seconds per day of the caliber 3120? Absolutely ...

... bought brand new last year has never run the advertized \-2 secs per day. It has always consistently been at 3.5 secs per day. Which is not bad in my book, but not at the advertized level. I think this is mostly marketing, to be honest.
I have never
had a Rolex or a Patek Philippe keep consistent time within the rates that they claim are to be expected. I love my Rolex and Patek Philippe timepieces, but at their best they keep “good “ time. Nothing within the claim in the advertising.
Rolex are the marketing kings.
For whatever reason, my precious sub-no-date ran plus 0.5s/day for 4-5 years, until I was forced to sell it 😔
Get the tools and regulate yourself!
Regulating watches is not rocket science usually. I have only cracked open a few of my watches to make adjustments, but it is frequently fun and rewarding. My 5002 Big Pilot was a great success that I got down to a fraction of a second a day through trial...

BTW: what kind of apps listen to watches tick to calculate the rate?

I use Hairspring. It uses my iphones speaker. There needs to be very little ambient noise, but it is a fun app.
