Because they drink so much petrol, the range isn't great - so this battery version is about the same. The big issue here is that with a petrol car, I can refill it - and there is likely a gas station somewhere not too far from the wilderness. There's not ... 

about regional specifics I have had a G63 for a couple of years and have been getting around 500km out of the full tank. A diesel version would be more than 800km I think.

not be switching to an electric version. I do not trust the electric technology of the Merc fornthe time being. I have had a lot of trouble with a mild hybrid battery in my GLS AMG G63 - and have no reason to believe a full electric would be more reliable... 

No rush to get the Electric G wagon - not until it's been deemed reliable. The two speed transmission in the motor wheel hub is also bleeding new technology - I'd like to see some data on the long-term reliability there before I take the plunge on a G wag...

With a petrol powered SUV, I can put cans of petrol in the back. But how do I put cans of "electric juice" in the back? Oh! I know, I bring a generator and cans of petrol. Voila!

Their natural habitat seems to be Beverley Hills parking lots. It's all 4runners, Wranglers, Broncos and Subarus on the trails... I think Mercedes hit the nail on the head for their market.

I was in Africa to see "The Great Migration" of animals. And I ended up joking, "I see the great migration of Toyota Land Cruisers." There were NO G CLASS vehicles. Pictures from October 2023 Tokyo Auto Show ...  

I'm in line for the new land cruiser myself. Good mpg so every can of gas I bring will take me further, a small enough battery not to be obstrusive when discharged but large enough to run basic camping stuff... It might be 2 years until I get one, but sti...

They know the market they are playing into exceedingly well. It's a forgone conclusion. Obviously, the car isn't a replacement for the petrol version, it's simply a companion trim to lure in buyers for whom the only 'obstacle' to getting one was that this...

Neither one is necessary or anything more than a flexing exercise. So on that basis, why not get the one that's bigger, more powerful, and quicker by far? The Hummer's probably even more maneuverable given its 10-degree RWS system. The Hummer charges at 8... 

But if I were, the Toyota Land Cruiser and Mercedes G Wagon are the ones that catch my eyes, simply because of the amazing capabilities of the machine. The Hummer's interior has too many hard plastics for me. Although I do see the appeal in making it easi... 

They still have the 6 cyl engines for the G580 and G63 still their V8.
