Will they be able to refill the batteries in the desert? :))))

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I was thinking the exact same thing!

Also the grumble and pops of the V8 are gone. This is a big no thank you from me.

Seriously with such a short autonomy, you can just go shopping to the supermarket... :)

The idea is that the average G Class doesn't get much range...

 By: patrick_y : April 24th, 2024-03:48
Because they drink so much petrol, the range isn't great - so this battery version is about the same. The big issue here is that with a petrol car, I can refill it - and there is likely a gas station somewhere not too far from the wilderness. There's not likely a recharging station that close to the wilderness...

Diesel versions are quite rangy

They are? Rats! Too bad we don't have them here in USA!

 By: patrick_y : April 24th, 2024-05:27

Sorry, totally forgot

about regional specifics smile
I have had a G63 for a couple of years and have been getting around 500km out of the full tank. A diesel version would be more than 800km I think.

Yes, the Diesel has a quite good autonomy.

I am an owner of G63 from 2022 and will

not be switching to an electric version. I do not trust the electric technology of the Merc fornthe time being. I have had a lot of trouble with a mild hybrid battery in my GLS AMG G63 - and have no reason to believe a full electric would be more reliable. Speaking about the model year 2025 G-Wagen, for me they ruined it by adding the mild hybrid system. And also - they removed the IWC physical clock - a total no go smile)

Bravo!

I agree, no rush.

 By: patrick_y : April 25th, 2024-02:16
No rush to get the Electric G wagon - not until it's been deemed reliable. The two speed transmission in the motor wheel hub is also bleeding new technology - I'd like to see some data on the long-term reliability there before I take the plunge on a G wagon.

Maybe solar panels πŸ€”

Hehehe... In this case all goes well. ;)

 By: amanico : April 24th, 2024-03:36

But that only works on sunny days! What if you have a bad weather day?

 By: patrick_y : April 24th, 2024-03:48
I think we need to hire a bunch of hamsters to run on a wheel to generate some electricity for the car!

LOL!

Couldn't get any hamsters in the desert, but I am assembling an army of tortoises to tow the car very slowly to my destination!

 By: patrick_y : April 24th, 2024-03:58
I would need an army of around 10,000 of these automaton turtles to pull the car!

Definitely very short range!

 By: patrick_y : April 24th, 2024-03:47
Don't expect to do a lot away from civilization!

Which is absurd... It is contrary to its raison d'Γͺtre.

 By: amanico : April 24th, 2024-03:47

Oui!

 By: patrick_y : April 24th, 2024-03:49
With a petrol powered SUV, I can put cans of petrol in the back.  But how do I put cans of "electric juice" in the back?  Oh!  I know, I bring a generator and cans of petrol.  Voila!

Exactly. Silly!

 By: amanico : April 24th, 2024-03:50

I guess the folks that buy this car, they can also bring the servants who then push when the battery is dead!!!

 By: nasseriq : April 24th, 2024-06:52

Aaaah, so the consumption value must be indicated: How many servants does it consume in 500 kilometers, then?

 By: amanico : April 24th, 2024-06:58

A lot. :0)

 By: nasseriq : April 25th, 2024-05:43
