Indulging in the Pure Impulse World...
What a change from 12 cylinders to 3 cylinders....my new i8 is finally here.
I wonder why BMW named their packages in Worlds with computer memory terms, "Mega, Giga, Tera and Pure Impulse" World. In Europe, they are called Neso, Carp and Halo.
The differences are interior colors, trims but the Pure Impulse World package added some features like i8 embossed head rest, door sills, black i brake calibers and ZrO2 gear shifters, you heard it right, Zirconium Oxide...that's the same ceramic that Omega likes, so a coincidence with my recent SM300.
The interior is definitely not in the same league as the Aston. BMW i8 uses Napa leather, not their higher end Merino leather. I wish they can put in the B&O speakers just like the Aston and many other BMW models, considering this is their flagship model.
4 different Driving modes, e-Drive, Eco-pro, Comfort and Sports works and transit seemlessly. You can tell the differences by the whining of the electric or the angry growl of the twin turbo 3-cylinder engine

), just 3 but its faster the my Aston and quite nimble due to the low center of gravity and light weight Thermoplastics.
Technology-wise, I'm quite impressed with their ConnectedDrive network and services made available, charging monitor, GPS of your car at your cell phone, etc.
I'm mostly driving around in Comfort mode during its initial break-in period and so far has average 40+ mpg, quite impressive for a car of this performance.
The backseat is good only for teenagers, adults like my wife's ~5'7" frame had to tilt her head slightly. Trunk space is 4.7 cu feet so good for a regular grocery trip and some shopping.
I guess there are tons of reviews and videos from the web so I just share the photos.
Overall, I am very happy with this car and got so many thumbs up from cars driving beside me, much more than the Aston from this initial 100+ miles.
Good news is the supply has now catch up with the demand and you don't have to pay over sticker price anymore.
