Girard Perregaux

Gerard Perregaux Watch from 1966

Dear All,

I just today posted a similar note to this one on the general watch discussion board and thought that I might try and be more specific. I recently had a stolen watch returned to me after 36 years and am hoping that I might be able to find a bit more information about it from the discussion group.
The watch is a Girard Perregaux that my father bought for me in 1966 upon my graduating from high school and leaving for the university. It dissapeared in 1970 (I believe) and was returned to me about a month ago, with a false return address, etc. I am very grateful to have it back as it has great sentimental value for me. As memory serves me, I believe that my father paid $100.00 for the warch in 1966.
The watch is a chronograph and has a stainless steel case which has the number 268034 on the back. I was told by the watch repair technician (it was returned in non-working condition) that the movement is a 17 jewel Valjoux 72. As I remember, the watch originally had a black leather band but my memory is certainly not infallible! It has a cheap steel replacement band on it now and a plasic crystal. I am planing on having this watch restored. Any information as to history of this model, selling price at the time and current value would be greatly appreciated. "Anthony'" has already responded on the general discussion board and asked for photos which I will be able to get at a later time. Thank You All!

Best Regards,

Tim
