Girard Perregaux

Take a look at what I've found....

I recently purchased this lovely pendant watch.  She is between penny and dime sized diameter, and about a 1/4 of an inch thick.  The crystal rises slightly, and has a sharp, not curved edge.

When I began my research, I was quite thrilled at what I learned of the maker, but the watch seems not to fit into anything I can find.  The inside back of the case is signed Lapwell, and marked 10kt gold.  With that information, pluse the number style, I'm guessing it to be around a 1940's peice. Could a war explain why a maker as famous as this, would use 10kt gold instead of the usual 14 or 18?  Lapwell Case Company was based in New York, and the time would fit.  We were fortunate enough to correspond with the original owner of Lapwell Case Company's son, who confirmed that his dad's company did create and ship cases to Girard Perregaux, and he said he was a good customer.

I think this peice may be worth more than I've been quoted, because of it's rareity, so I looked for people who know watches.  If nothing else, enjoy this tiny peice of artistry!

TIA for any information!

Teresa
